Welfare and Social Responsibility – We at Mars believe the most important proof of corporate social responsibility is treating our employees well. As such we have established good policy practices to ensure our staff feel valued and appreciated for their contribution. In order to facilitate an open communication platform between the factory workers and management, we have formed various committees such as the Worker Welfare Committee, Safety Committee, Worker Participation Committee and a Grievance Committee. Additionally, we provide our employees access to free transportation, free lunch, free basic medical care and doctor consultation and also a day care centre. Financial benefits such as an Employee Provident Fund, Earned Leave and mandatory annual salary increment makes us standout in the industry as a reputed employer.
Factory safety – Mars is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all its employees. We have a professional team of civil engineers, electric engineers and fire safety consultants to guide us in maintaining high safety standards. Our commitment to establish an Alliance and Accord 100% approved factory is well on-track.
Product and factory security – Security of the product and the factory is paramount to our clients and essential for our day-to-day operations. We maintain 24-hour CCTV surveillance of our entire premises and employ a team of patrolling security guards. Our factories are fully compliant to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and follow the C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program of supply chain security.
Mars is a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), the industry’s foremost alliance for sustainable production. By measuring our sustainability performance, we can address inefficiencies, resolve damaging practices, and achieve the environmental and social transparency.
Environment Policies – Well-established environment policies like Waste Management, Air Emissions Management, Water Management, Energy Consumption and Noise Pollution reduction initiatives ensures our factories are environmentally sustainable.
Higg Environment Module – The Higg Index’s environment module is an international standard of monitoring the environmental impact of production facilities. As part of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) initiative, we use this tool to minimise our carbon footprint and ensure continued sustainability.
